Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Hi Michael,
Both kits are of the last production type of the sdkfz 7 which was the Km m11.The only real distinction between early and later as best I can tell is the hand grabs along the sides. The early has the wire handles which the Trumpeter kit has and the later production had slots cut into the body of the vehicle (Tamiya). This change seems to have occured around 1942/43. I can only guess this by the fact I can't find a picture of the later style any earlier.A truely "Earlier" vehicle would be the KM m10 which is distinguished by a two wheel shorter track run. These were produced between 1936 and 1937.I just finished a conversion of the Tamiya kit to this and am waiting for the pictures to be posted in the gallery which is why I have all this info leaking out my ears. All these types would have been seen through the end of the war.
