6312 is the non-zimmerit Premium Edition version and was released before the 6302 zimmerit version. 6312 is the older but more accurate kit but you need to add your own zimmerit.
I believe the PE parts are supposed to represent the commander's Schaulock or viewing port. According to Jentz, at least 16 but not all 50 had it. In November 1942, the port was sealed and a plug welded into the hole. This was then covered with zimmerit and was only discernible as a flatter circular area in the curved turret side.
It is up to you if you wish to add it. But if you decide to, then you need to remove the zimmerit on the turret side, glue the PE part and re-apply the zimmerit.
