I know AA and Cromwell had old kits of those tanks. They are probably more accurate shape and proportion wise, but also have the drawbacks of price, availability and more tricky assembly. I know my Cromwell M10 was interesting as the whole hull and chassis was one big piece with the interior going in through the underside of the hull.

I think you can get some replacement parts to fix the pastic kits, which might be the best bet. A new upper hull and turret shell and you are basically good to go.
