Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Don't rough it up too much. The actaul surface of the turret cast was reasonable smooth, sort of like an iced cake. It definately isn't a rough casting on the examples I climbed all over. If you smooth out the angles of the angles with a bit of sandpaer or wet and dry plus fix the gun trunnion its pretty accurate (other than the tracks and Bogies).
A lot of reviewers jumped on the bandwagon and slammed the hull angle and the "Missing" rivet without actually checking first and the turret shape , height etc. The "Missing" Rivet exists in some manufacturers hull and the angles were fine to begin with. I suppose that means the Legends Hull is off as it differs from Academies.
Academy deserved to be slammed for releasing this with the Bogies as a known fault and to a lesser degree the tracks but the only real fault was the gun trunnion which is one for purists but is a major fault.
Of note regarding the turret is that I photographed two Grants side by side and BOTH turrets differed slightly from each other.
A very nice Grant can be built from this using basic modelling skills and the spare bogey face from the M7 Kit plus AM or DML WE 210 track.
Cheers
Al
