The kit was one of DML's first Shermans and closely followed their Vc Firefly. If you look carefully you can see the outline of the loaders hatch in the turret.
DML re released this kit recently which corrected the lower hull as in the last firefly release but still had turret problems. Check against Mikes excellent guidelines. IMHO they added a few small problems at the same time - Antenna Pot too big and the shape of the hoods but it was pretty good and the only M4A4 source in plastic until Tascas Firefly Vc.
I'd go for T62 tracks as this is the most common seen on the Sherman V. I'd also look at finding an alternate turret as that makes a world of difference to the kit. The Tamiya M4 Early (Their designation - not mine) turret is prety good if you have one as are the Formations Resin ones. You need an Early/Mid Low Bustle turret. You can go with the early M34 or later M34A1 mantlets depending on the vehicle.
They served with the British in NWE with Guards Armoured (Coldstreams fitted 60 lb Rockets in late 44) and 11 Armd Divs - Some Canadian Formations 4CAB? also used them during the Totalise battles.
6 AD (South Africa) used them in Italy as did the Canadians (Sicily and Italy) but the Kiwis only used the V as a Firefly. despite some claims it was NOT used in North Africa except in Training schools for the Italian Formations.
The Chinese and Indians/Brits also used the V in Burma. The Chinese had particularly colourful markings but were not successful in action. The US had a provisional Company using V's in the SBI also.
AFV club did a set of T62 as rubber bands recently but I have not used them and heard about fit problems.
Cheers
