Hi guys,
Well Peter, that makes it only so much more annoying, for they can do good kits! Both the 1:72 Lancaster and the 1:32 He 162 are examples of top notch kits in high quality styrene. Even their 1:35 trucks are nice kits. And though their other modern German armour kits are no high flyers too, they are not as crappy as this kit is.
David, first off course congratulations with your birthday!
But not lifting up the kit to avoid seeing non existent detail is not the point. For €25,00 (±40 USD) one may expect something. Hell, for allmost the same amount of cash I have two(!) Trumpeter KV kits! This kit cries 'cheapness'! All spues are in one much to big bag that is 'cellotaped' to form a compact package. It is in a flimsy front opening box, the styrene is substandard, as is the kit itself. The weld beads look like stitches, plain wheels without tire detail, cast shut drivers hatch, and so on, and so on!
Revell makes, I guess, a 1000% profit on this garbage. So I think it is reasonable to feel f**ked over by this company. If it was a fiver, I would have silently discarded it, but for 25 it is a first class rip off that other people should be warned off! I am not that rich that I can laugh about it and ignore it, and so are many more people I guess.
Raoul, succes with the build. IIRC, Lion Marc or Lion Roar do a set of very nice resin workable Marder tracks that should fit this kit too. Would not have my hopes to high for more specific AM for this kit though, doubt very much if a Friull or Eduard will invest any cent in this kit. So it is to the spare box for some detailed modern German tools, smoke grenade launchers, sights, lights. etc..
Pissed, hostile? Yes I am! Yesterday I've thrown the complete box in the trash can, that's where it belongs! I'd better bought a bottle off whisky for that money, then I was at least pissed in the right way! ;-)
Consider this as a very, very negative review from someone who normally isn't discouraged by some extra work to finish a kit.
