Hi paul,
Military Modelling magazine volume 29 issue 12 has a build report with a number of pictures off the real vehilce too. A quick Google session will also result in some nice pics (many detail close ups off Finnish vehicles that were on auction not that long ago).
The pictures in MM magazine include some of the vehicle fitted out for deep wading, Abers or AA's Cromwell deep wading sets can be used to build that version. Abers general Cromwell etch set would be usefull too, as well as AA's British towing cable set.
The new AFV 20 pounder barrel type A would be a good investment, but the type B barrel from their Centurion kit can be used if building a foreign vehicle. (Long resin barrels have a tendency to 'droop' over the years.)
It was used with the British, Finnish, Austrian, Jordanian and Lebanese armies, and with the armoured branch of the PLO freedom fighters. In case of the latter a Sherman commanders hatch with .50 was added.
At least two were rearmed with the 105mm L7, one British prototype and one (used?) in the Lebanon.
With the SKP Challenger out now, I guess (Friull?) 15.5 inch Cromwell AM tracks are to be expected in due time. These were the tracks that were used on the Charioteer, late Cromwell, Challenger and Avenger TD. Found the tracks in the AA Charioteer conversion kit the least satisfying parts of the conversion.
All in all a great conversion kit off a rather cool looking though not that succefull piece of British armour. Can recommend it, even if one has none or limited experience with resin kits.
Cheers,
Alex |
