Forums - Modelling / Kits

The kits forum is for the discussion of model kits. Typically questions on availability or certain subjects and quality of existing kits are posted here. Short reviews are good here too.

Subject:  AFV Club Long Tom gun barrel lengthList thread.

I have come across a few posts which state that the barrel is about 8.5 mm short in length.

Tankograd TM lists the length at 7050 mm; an internet source lists it as 7036 mm.
This scales out to 201.4 mm (7050:35).
The length of the AFV barrel (back of the breech ring) is 199mm. This is close enough for me.

Looking at the few pictures I have of the gun, it does appear that the proportion of the barrel (plastic rear/aluminum front) to the cradle is skewered.
Adding a few spacers to the back of the barrel (plastic parts) to total 8.5 mm might fix the problem BUT this means that the front of the barrel (aluminum part) has to be reduced by an equal amount so that the total length will remain the same.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
