The first batches of the kit were rushed out the door with several significant errors and parts of the turret mold were actually unfinished. Trumpeter was stung by the bad reviews and went back to correct much of it.
The Operation Telic and Kosovo KFOR kits have the upgrades--the Kosovo version has a dozer blade and side applique armor pacs, while the Operation Telic kit has the front ROMOR armor package as well. Fit is okay, but the mount for the gun isn't very positive, so be careful you don't position the trunnions too far back.
The improved Trumpeter kit has also been released in Airfix and Hobbycraft boxes, but they include only the standard scalloped side skirts, not the dozer or ROMOR armor package.
Tamiya's kit is superior, but it can only be built as an Iraq War tank, as it lacks the scalloped side skirts. |
