I was fortunate enough to find a colour photograph of real German WW2 cardboard boxes (whatever that means) which I used to estimate the size and shape of the box. I drew it out in fine pencil on a flat sheet of typing paper, cut it out, dipped it in black Starbucks coffee and when dry folded it up just like a real box. I glued it together with a little white glue. In one of my boxes it is filled with gas mask cases which you can not see unless you look close. I thought that would be fun for someone to discover when they looked at my model.
