Maybe I should elaborate on this.
My washes where not normal washes but more like thinned out paint. The
paint was a mix of artist water colours and the cake type palettes that
kids use in school. I painted this mix all over the model. Then I sort
of dry brushed away this paint with a slightly damp flat red sable paint
brush. I moistened the brush with steam, I did this so the brush was
only slightly damp. After several such "dry brushings" enough of the
dust coloured paint was removed to give the effect in the photograph. I
was trying to simulate heavy dust left in the corners and crevices of
the truck.
