True, details are nice, but I guess I've found I just can't get over the obsessive compulsive need to make life miserable with tiny chains and wingnuts, etc. and need to just once prove to myself that I can build something in less time that it takes to become borderline drudgery. The paint is the fun part and maybe Miguel Jimenez has the right idea -- let someone else build and focus on the paint.

Personally, I love putting all the tiny bits on, even if for the fourth
time. I hate painting and, as such, shall never really make it as a
really first class modeller. (Not that I give a tinkers cuss, mind you)
I consider myself of the "builder" class and, as those who have judged
alongside me at various contests will attest, I tend to look more
favourably on those who turn silk purses into sows ears than those who
produce excellent images of vehicles without getting all the details
dead right. Everyone gets their enjoyment from the hobby in different
ways and good on all of us. I will say, though, that I envy the work of
those amongst us who manage to both get the details right _and_ get it
to look beautiful as well.
