Hi John,
I just had a quick look at Tigers In Combat volume I. According to the text
and color plates, the Tigers were two tone red/yellow and three tone, in
irregular patterns. Distinctive tactical numbers with the first (company)
numeral about twice the hight of the successive (platoon & vehicle) numbers.
Numbers white with thin dark outline - probably black. Some vehicles had
battallion symbol (white blacksmith on black shield) on extreme upper left
rear superstructure.
Turning to the actual photos in the same book, the tactical numbering and
the unit symbol are clearly seen as depicted on the color plates. Less clear
is the camo - the Tigers are mostly very beat up and dirty in the photos and
the precise camo is none too clear. All I can say is that a couple of them
show some sort of secondary color in an indistinct medium width pattern -
splotches and short wavy stripes.
Hope this helps,
David. |
