hello Aaron,
I to am fairly new at airbrushing, I started last December, and I choose to use Model Master enamals because I have always like the line.
I am getting some good results also. you can check out my site to see my work. its at...
http://home.ceinetworks.com/~delbert3/Mainmodel.html
(the following is not a plug just something I've learned from my own experience)
Have you purchaced the Model Master book titled "Modeler's Technical Guide" it is full of airbrushing infomation and a lot of information has to do with how to use model master paints. It also explains airbrushing for the beginner and gives you exercised to do to improve your skill and gives
many examples and solutions for common problems in an easy to understand mannor.
As for thinning the paints, I've mainly learned that it takes practice. My main mistake at the start was I was'nt thinning them enough. they need to be thinned to the consistancy of whole milk.. at least thats what everyone tells me.
For Model master paints i've been using the Model master airbrush thinner, although I've started to use mineral spirits instead. but i havn't used them very much yet. (they are lots cheaper).
Flat paints the model master book says a starting point is 3 parts paint to 1 part thinner and for
gloss, 3 parts paint to 2 parts thinner. but this is just a starting point.
one more thing, do you have a pressure regulator, I've found that when I added this I improved my airbrushing by 500 percent.
good luck
Delbert.
