This is true, for the most part. US vehicles all use the same CARC paint green, redbrown, black. For the green, the best match I've gotten has been with Model Master dark green. However, I've seen many vehicles so faded that it almost looks like olive green. The thing to remember is that the paint is dead flat with no gloss to it.
The paint actually has a very grainy texture to it when you touch it, as a result of the chemical-resistant properties.
I'm active-duty Army, by the way.
I've still seen some vehicles on active duty with the older 4-color MERDC pattern. I've seen a few variations, based on woodland, desert, or arctic. Mostly, these are older vehicles or National Guard vehicles.
I have some pretty good pictures of the MERDC and CARC patterns; if you'd like I can scan and send them to you.
Hope this helps. |
