| I have painted a lot of large armor in the 1/25 to 1/16 range. They can be difficult to paint for a couple of reasons. One is the size. A larger model, by nature, has a lot of large, flat, smooth areas that look really fake on a big model. Even well detailed large scale models tend to look skimpy and plain. Careful painting will help take care of this. Unfortunately wiht an R/C model it is not practical to do a lot of weathering, etc., as the model will be subjected to running abuses that will damage a good paint job or add some out of scale weathering of its own. The 1/16 kits that I have painted that looked best were non runners. The runners had to be kept pretty spartan and simple. There is a web site with a lot of 1/16 scratchbuilds, including 8 rads, SWS, tanks, etc. somewhere. |
