| Thank-you for the complement, although i wasn't that happy with the paint job on my T34/85. I thought my Sherman M4A1 was better. Any way I painted the tank a base color of dark green. I then mixed powdered white chalk pastel with water to a consistency of about acrylic paint. This was painted on everywhere with a brush and allowed to dry. I then used a dry stiff brush to brush and scrape off the pastel. This technique is explained in an article by John Robinson in the Feb o3 issue of Fine Scale modeler. Because I wanted a very worn look I drybrushed with Tamiya Hull Red and Flat Earth. I also used dry pastels of Black, Brown and rust color. Ialso did a light dusting separately of highly thinned black and earth colors with an airbrush. Actually I thought I kind of over did the worn effect. For some of the rust areas I used rust colored pastels with a slightly wet brush. I hope this helps. |
