I have read more than once that T-34 tanks were in such desperate need in the early months of 1942 that they left the factory (Leningrad Tractor Works for one) without any paint at all. If I remember correctly it took around three days for the paint to dry due to the unheated and damp conditions. The Red Army just could not wait that long.
