Greetings all...

If this question has been asked before, i apollogise, but i guess im to lazy to search back thru the posts.

Anyway, can anyone give me some tips on how to do the scratched paint effect seen on many armor models nowadays. I see a lot of this effect on German subjects and kinda like the beat up look. Would this apply to U.S./ Allied vehicles like a M26 Pershing which im working on now?
The effect im looking for is the rust scars on the edges of the vehicles. Would it be done by dabbing rust colored paint on the edges and putting a lighter shade on top of the scars?
Been looking high and low for a step by step article or something on how to do this, so if anyone could help...id greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.
