I have used many different airbrushes, including those from Paasche, Badger, and Aztek. Each company makes decent airbrushes, particularly for general use. However, I recently purchased an Iwata HP-B, and I must say that I am now a complete convert to the quality of Iwata. There simply is no comparison to this airbrush and any I have tried from the aforementioned manufacturers.
Iwata makes a complete line of brushes, from the super expensive Custom Micron, down to the reasonably priced Revolution. Each is precision-manufactured to much more demanding specifications than most airbrushes.
The advantages of Iwata airbrushes include superior atomization, very precise paint and airflow control (especially if you buy the pre-set handle which I heartily recommend), and (IMO, best-of-all) very easy clean-up. For example, I used to have a terrible headache keeping my Paasche vsr90 clean. And when it wasn't clean, it acted like I was trying to stipple. With the Iwata, I just shoot a little ammonia (for acrylics) or lacquer thinner (for enamels) through it at the end of my session and it is good-as-new. Couldn't be easier.
The Iwata HP-C may be the perfect airbrush for your stated needs. It has a larger needle, nozzle and color cup (integrated) than the HP-B so it will provide broader coverage than the B, while still giving you very good detail capabilities.
If you ask around here you will see that Iwata's are generally very highly regarded. They do cost more, but in my opinion they are worth every penny.
Below is an address to a site that carries Iwata as well as many other lines of airbrushes. Their prices and service are very good.
