Basically, most paints have to be diluted when out of the pot. Try using Testors' enamel thinner next and dilute the paint a little. The paint should be of a consistency where it runs freely. Be careful though, your brush should still retain a point. If it doesn't, your brush is overloaded with paint and the paint will be all over your model like a thick wash. Wipe of the excess paint of the brush until you get a fine point.
If you do not get an even coverage, don't try to cover it up directly or you will get nasty brushmarks. Wait for the paint to dry and then give it a second coat or more if that what it takes to get a good coverage. Just remember to let the paint dry thoroughly between each consecutive coat.
Hopes this helps
Cheers!
