Hi
You can do that. I have never had problems going acrylic over enamel or vice
versa. You'll find the acrylics much easier to work with than the enamels, I
think. And you can use water for thinner, cleanup etc. I usually prime with
acrylics (PollyScale light primer grey), and then let that dry for a few
days before going on with the brush painting. For armor, I don't bother with
a primer. I just make sure the kit is washed thoroughly, then paint thin
coats of PollyScale for the base coat.

Look at a model railroad shop. I'm surprised Hobby House doesn't have them,
but I haven't been there in years!! Hobby Junction in Dorval have the
PollyScale paints. I think they used to be the same company as Testors
Canada, but I'm not sure. I know PollyScale is a Canadian company, and they
can be harder to get down here in the US.

You can't beat them. The main difference I find is that the Vallejos give
better coverage. That is, there appears to be more pigment there and less
carrier. The Pollyscales are a lot cheaper, and come in a wider range of
colors. I picked up a lot of the railroad colors in the bigger bottles. For
base coats and most other uses, they work fine. And the Mud color makes for
a great German WW2 Desert Sand color as far as I can tell. My Pz IIIJ in the
gallery was brush painted with PollyScale Mud. No primer.

Cheers
Andy
