This scheme was introduced as a result of experimentation by 7th armoured division (formerly the Mobile division)during 1940 whilst in the desert
by the Co of the, then, Heavy Brigade; Brigadier Caunter.
I do not recall seeing any pics of trucks with this system
However I believe from distant memory that the painting instructions in the Tamiya 1:35 LRDG Cheverolet truck did show a similar pattern
