I would apply washes, do some light drybrushing, add any paint chips, scrapes, etc. Then, possibly spray on some light dusing. If it is a static model you could use Pastels. These large tanks are wierd to paint. They tend to look plain and simply boring in most cases. Big flat armor panels in 1/35 are still pretty small in 1/16 they are big and need alot of attention. Airbrushed shading, fading, painted on chips and flakes, etc. all make the kit look more realistic in this size.
