| Subject: | The explanation! | |

hello all.
Well, in spain, we use the word "FUTBOL" for the sport named Football or sooccer. The word Futbol is a derivate of english Football. Also, we use the word PARKING (in spanish is aparcamiento) but all of us use PARKING, because the origen of these word is from english lenguage, the same as FOOTBALL, or Marketing, or other much words that is accepted in Spanish Dictionary after a lot of years ago!
When I started to use the FILTERS for first time in Spain, I think 1995 or 1994, nobody before used another or similar words for these kind of effect here.
So, the spanish people started to use the term FILTRO (Filter) for these technic.
In Spain, only the word filter means...filter. We haven't another word as GLAZE. In Spain, the only one and the more apropiate word for these effect is FILTER.
When I started to publish my articles in foreing magazines (French Seetel Master, Japanese Armor Modelling, German Modell Fan, Hungary Pro Model, Italian Model Time...even ENGLISH magazines as Military Modelling or others...I followed using the same WORD...FILTER; because these term is very easy understable by all modellers in ALL lenguages!
But GLAZE is not popular between Japaneses or Hungary people...as you can guess.
All terms or technics that I try to develop is using simple words and more or less, international words, or easy words.
THE FILTER; as concept, is very easy understable by all people, more than GLAZE. Then, why not accept these word? Just because was used by a non english speaker?? I am not making modelling in english lenguage. I make modelling in MODELLING lenguage, but I need to explain to all readers with each article my technics. Maybe...if you try to explain your technics in SPANISH or JAPANESE, surely that nobody will undertand you is you not try to be SIMPLE!
Send a letter to a japanese editor in your pure english, and he will put it in the garbage directly because a pure english is very complicate!
The modelling hobby is not based in english lenguage. The modelling is from all of us. In the modelling does't exist countries. A realistic model is realistic here or in UK or USA. And you can apreciate a realistic model even if it is from a FRENCH modeller because the modelling is INTERNATIONAL.
Please, don't try to put more barriers in the modelling. Can you undertand FILTER???? yes?? then, why you don't want use these term is the rest of the world can understand it and is easy for everybody?
Can you understand the word rain Marks??? or Pigment? or drybrush? or oxide??
Sincerily, I can found a sense for this polemic about a simple word that just try to explain a technic maked by a non english speaker that try to share it with people from more of 20 different countries.
I hope that you can understand me.
All the best
