The green variations come from choice of manufacturer, methods of application, dilution of the basic paint, weathering effects; lots of factors.
In late-war camouflage, the tankers were supplied with tins of paste for the olive green and red brown. This could be dabbed directly (never really seen evidence that this was done as it would use up the paste in a hurry) or thinnned with water (temporary applications) or gasoline (permanent, but they often didn't have fuel to spare) and brushed, sprayed, mopped, or literally thrown on - whatever worked with the materials at hand.
How much the paint was thinned and by which means could alter the density of the pigment a lot. The better modelers (better than your truly) work hard to duplicate these variations, so they get different results from the same stock of their model paint or they alter the model paint with washes, oversprays, and filters (see Mig Jimenez's excellent articles referenced in the thread on filters).
The red brown (and even the dark yellow when applied over red oxide primer or an olive green base) should also have the same degree of variation for the same reasons.
I'll get back to you on the books if someone else doesn't respond.
