If you have a "Games Workshop" near you, try their "Tin Bitz". It's a sort of mix between gunmetal and rust and is great on exhausts and for rusted sheet metal. It mixes well with Tamiya and other Acrylics and can be mixed with weathering pigments to get all manner of shades. I use it in conjunction with Life Colour's red/brown, dotted on with a fine brush to give pin hole rust on sheet metal such as fenders and bins.
