Mike,
I have done such a job just last week, on my ARV MK 1 conversion:
I first sprayed the tracks with Humbrol Track color, which is an od reddish
brown.
Next I applied a heavy wash with sepia oils and after that a lighter one
with a light grey wash.
Next I drybrushed the tracks with a dark metal, and ended with some light
silver on the bars and teeth.
After this dried I placed the tracks on the Sherman and oversprayed the
whole lower hull with some light earth.
I like the result, mayby you will to.
