Hi Martin;
During my research into an article in Mil Mod and from first hand accounts from a guy who drove them, they were all sprayed with whatever was on hand that was as close a match to light stone as possible. As far as the Scots Dragoon Guards were concerned alot were done in Germany and a few were done en route aboard the Emden and some of the other transport ships. Some thermal sleeves were black others were the hull colour, as there wasn't a strict standard being adhered to. One of the interesting bits of info from a mate in the 3rd para was that his, and alot of his mates, Bergens were painted in Tamiya spray cans German colours and Halfords automotive cols.
So to make a long story short the Chobham armour was painted at the same time as the tanks and the same colour.

HTH

Jay
