i already considered the red oxide primer, but it seems to me that if the zimmerit is applied over the primer, it will bond with the paint, and that when a big chunk comes flaking off, that the primer coat will come with it, in at least some places, showing the bare metal underneath.
thats the color i'm looking for, the bare metal. i can't come up with a good way of painting it, and using pencil lead looks bad.
