The two main reasons I get the "spit spatter" effect are
1.The Paint is not thinned enough
and
2. Too much air pressure (PSI)from the compressor
If you have checked the obvious and are reasonably sure you have a clean airbrush it may just be time to breakdown and upgrade
Personally I have tried everything with acrylics and never achieve consistant results-The same brand mixed the same way with same PSI works one day and then fails the next time out...
