Sounds like a good complete cleaning is needed, I agree with the suggestion about the model master acrylic cleaner, possibly a new tip and or needle, My one Badger 150 is pushing 30 years old, and still going strong, only repair it ever needed was a new air valve about 20 years ago, and of course tips and needles DO wear out.
I have found that after I use acrylics, and do a decent job of cleaning the airbrush afterwards, spraying a cupful of clean lacquer thinner insures it's really clean. Been using the Model Masters airbrush cleaning station ever since they came out, but for the final spraying of the clean cupful, I prefer spraying into a clean WHITE paper towel. Instantly tells me if the airbrush is really clean.
Sounds like a lot of work, but in real time, it never takes me more than 2 or 3 minutes to clean any of my airbrushes. |
