| I thin Polly Scale with distilled water, roughly around a 50-50 mix. I usually add a drop of dish detergent to keep the tip from drying as quickly. With Tamiya, I use only their thinner, and again go with something approaching a 50-50 mix. Tamiya is alcohol based, but I find that the paint dries too quickly when thinned with alcohol (it can dry midair and create a rough texture on the finish). I find that I can add Tamiya clear to either Tamiya or Polly Scale paints (10% or so) in order to soften the dead-flat finish both tend to produce. |
