I wouldn't base too much on the presence of paint chips in the Bundesarchiv. The RAL colours pretty well all changed post-war and hardly any of the original colours survived, including inevitably the ones we modellers all want!
Jentz and Doyle have been reserching this for decades and if they have had so much difficulty, I think it is unlikley that such data is as easy to obtain as going to the BA for it.
There is a useful summary of the current thinking by them on Missing Links and David Byrden's site has some colour matches also based on primary source research. |
