Since you asked for recommendations, I thought I would throw mine in. Like the others, I say go ahead and buy a double action. You will probably hit the limits of a single action pretty quickly. As far as brands go, I cannot recommend Iwata highly enough. I have used Paasche (VSR90), aztek, and my first brush was an old single action badger. Those all served me fairly well, but I have to say that I was blown away (no pun intended) when I bought an Iwata HP-B. I'd recommend an HP-C, or Revolution, though, because I bought my HP-B for detail work, and the other two are more versatile as they will allow a larger spray pattern while still allowing close to the same tightness of pattern. I believe the Revolution even comes with a pre-set handle that lets you limit paintflow, which is great for doing detail work. That costs additional $ on the HP line.
My Iwata is easy to use, extremely consistent with both enamels and acrylics, and is the easiest brush to clean I have ever used (largely because since the reservoir is practically on top of the tip, there is very little area to clean). They do cost more than most other brands, but in my opinion, you get what you pay for. I read the rave reviews of their brushes but resisted for ages, but after I got my hands on one I kicked myself for holding out for so long.
