Hy there,
i want to tell you how i usually work with single track links.
i first glue the wheels (including idler wheel and drive sprocket) to the model before painting, with very little cyanoacrylat - i does not weld the plastic together like plastik glue, so that the wheels can easyly be removed by flipping them with one finger. Do not use too much super glue.
then i assemble the tracks and put them on the model while they are still a little flexible, means the plastic glue is not dry. once the track is closed you can sculpt the hanging (donīt know how to write it better) of the track. then put it away over night to dry.
next step: remove the track carefully from the running gear. it should be flexible enough to be lifted away from one of the wheels, so you can take it out, then the next...
then just paint the tracks and the rest.
for the tracks i usually use a base of acrylic flat black, then mottling of red brown and then drybrushing with gun metal or silver, especially on the inside, where the wheels are running. do not forget the teeth of the track. after painting i do not use any glue for assembly, cause the track will keep the wheels on their place.
thats it, thats my way.
greetings from germany
