| A simple two step process works great for me. First do any of the clean up needed (drill out the pin holes, flash, whatever) then throw all the links into an empty vitiman bottle with warm water and 5-6 drops of liquid dishwasher detergnet. Shake well for 45 seconds or so and rise well. When dry, put them back in the bottle and add the Blacken-it. Shake for another minute or two (PUT THE LID ON TIGHT). They come out with no shiney spots. When dry they are beautiful. I find I dont need to even do a wash. One other tip. I find if I leave extra Blackin-it solution on the track, like in the resessed spots, it rusts more. More realism! Then I assemble. |
