The book "German Tanks in WWII in Color" has an interesting article that says there was different variations in Dark Yellow or Dunkle Gelb that changed over the years. Also, considering they used slave labor I have read quality control of the paint wasn't very good which added variations to the actual color. For repainting the vehicles in the field troops were sent the color as a paste that they had to thin down using whatever was available which again added even more possible variation. Then on top of that some vehicles painted in the field were sprayed and some were painted by brush which creates even more possibilities.
I guess to answer your question they all could be right. So just pick a shade that you like or matches reference material on the vehicle you're building. I like to use a different brand or shade on each panzer so they all don't look the same. |
