I know the problem. in my case, it was the airbrush itself. i used an aztek and it was just worn out. With a new airbrush the results started to get better. always check the brush, to make sure, it is perfectly clean before use. i, for my taste use water (most of the time), and do not thin too much (like milk is pretty good).
i guess you have to go througt the old try and error game to find out the best way. or try a different brand of acrylic.
