Hello Mario,
According to the illustration in Osprey New Vanguard: Tiger I 1942 - 1945,
it should be medium to dark gray. I painted mine with a paint mixture of
"80% black with 20% light gray", I then drybrushed it first with
ModelMaster's Panzer Schwarzgrau and then subsequently with light gray to
bring out the details.
That is how I did it, hope it helps.
