In the final stages of the war the Germans were short of supply on everything including paint, so in a period around november 1944 and on the interior was not painted at all, except from using rust primer on serveral AFVs. The crews did however not like this of course.
It is not unthinkable the a 251 D built around end of 1944 was not painted at all inside around at the drivers compartment/area, and it remained rust primer.
