Subject:  Re: Painting with TamiyaList thread.

How interesting that this subject has come up. For only the 4th time in a decade I am painting a set of figures for a diorama. As I have a large volume of Tamiya acrylics paints that I have successfully airbrushed with I tackled brush painting the figures with these same paints.

It turned out to be a very frustrating experiences. Even though I had primed the figures (styrene) prior to brush painting I still found the brush painting experience very disappointing. It seems that the paint does not like to adhere to the figure easily unless it is applied too thick.

I don't like the paint unthinnned as it appears to be drying on my brush much too rapidly, however when I have thinned it to the point where it seems to come off the brush then it sometimes requires additional coats to be able to get full even coverage.

I was getting very frustrated with this but thanks to this thread it comes a some comfort that this may be due to the brand of paint that I am using!

I certainly do prefer acrylics for ease of clean up and may now have to consider acquiring a line of paints for brush painting my figures......

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Garry
