Garry,
As I said in my earlier reply to Kaze, I have no trouble brush painting Tamiya. The key to success is to use Tamiya's thinner.(I used to think that Tamiya was the worst brushing paint out there. I tried mixing it with all the popular methods- water, water & dish soap, window cleaner, and alcohol-all with poor results.)
Tamiya's thinner not only thins the paint it also slows the drying time considerably giving you much better brushing and spraying results. It is also better to apply several thin coats than to try to cover with one thick coat.
