| Subject: | Iwata HP-CS help needed | |
| Date: | Jan 17, 2005 |
| From: | Eric Scurlock | |
I tried to put my new Iwata HP-CS to work and I’m having some severe problems. As you can see from the photos I’m having splatter problems. At first the brush hesitates to let paint come out. When the paint does come out, it at first splatters, sprays in spots or normally for a few seconds, then stops. The splatter would suggest to me the paint is too thin but the fact I can’t keep a steady stream of paint suggests to me the paint is too thick.
I’m getting cramps in my hand trying to regulate the paint flow. Just a hair too little pull on the trigger and I’ve got no paint, just a hair too much pull and I get a paint flow mess. The difference between no paint and too much paint is unmanageable – it is such a minute difference. The paint I’m using is Humbrol paint.
The first picture shows test sprays on paper. In the second photo you can see the splatter marks that occurred in spite of the fact I tested paint flow on paper before applying it to the model. I painted the model first using my old beat-up Paasche and masks I made myself. There were some slight problems with the masking so I attempted to go over the edges with the Iwata. The effort so far has been a mess. All constructive advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
