| with respect to the tracks, you can paint them after putting them on the tank (the less you handle them, the less chance of the paint flaking off); you can paint them off the tank, but put them on right after painting. this way the paint hasn't had a chance to dry and, therefore, become brittle leading to flaking; one other way is to prime then with automotive primer(this stuff is usually lacquer-based and will adhere to anything!). although not all tracks will accept the primer the same (that is, even the primer will flake off). painting vinyl ain't easy, but these are some of the ways i've found worked. by the way, aren't some of the newer vinyl tracks paintable (....or is it glueable)? |
