Hi YC,
By saying normal you mean anything not made specifically for models I assume. I havent tried all brands, but I have used some normal paints in the past, mostly enamels, including automotive touch up cans. My passion about 15 years ago was building big rigs, coincided with when I started driving them. Anyhow, I stopped at a Kenworth dealer and got a can of engine paint, worked perfect on a plastic model Cummins for my '79 KW W-925. Normal paints do tend to go on heavier than model sprays though, and may fill small creases and such. I suppose your best bet would be to try the paint on a piece of runner before hitting the model with it, then you'll know for sure if its safe. Stay away from automotive laquers, they craze the plastic making it look like shattered glass.
The airbrush, try soaking it in laquer thinner or turpentine for a while, most likely a little paint dried in the little white tip liner. I have one of those too, for wide pattern spraying.
Good luck,
Clair |
