Austin,
You said that "one side" of the kit was faded. That description tells me that it is the sunlight that is making the paint fade. All paints are going to fade, some at faster rates than others. I have a feeling that the "well lit room" is your problem. Try moving some kits into another room that gets less light and see what happens. Here is another good trick to see how bad the UV is in your room. Take a piece of coloured construction paper and place it near your models. Cover on half of it with a piece of plastic. Leave it there for a week or so and come back to it. Remove the plastic to see how badly the paper has faded. That is a really cheap and fast way to see what is going on.
