What worries me about the search for scale effect in painting is the small point that, at the distances we're talking about for seeing the real tank, most of the little details we all love to add are simply not visible. I prefer to look at my models as "shrunken" versions of the real thing - i.e. painted with the "unscaled colours" because I look at them close up to see the details. OK, I'm an oddball! But think about it, if you see a tank 100 yards away (never mind half a mile) can you see the rivets?
