I just talked to our top Scientist where I work (A company that makes high end paint).
He told me a few things about paint and fading.
(1) I always assumed the enamels where oil based, but any paint can be an enamel it just reflects how hard the paint is.
(2) When it comes to fading if left in direct sunlight Oils will tend to fade the fastest acrylics will fade the slowest and lacquers tend to eventually get a yellow tinge.
(3) Earth tones will take longer to fade then other bright colours.
I unfortunately forgot to ask about the time differences. Scientists do tend to measure things to the extreme, fading differences might not be noticeable for years. |
