It has come up before that certain items don't weather (i.e. the stainless steel weld beads on a Sherman tank) and I was wondering what the feeling of modelers is out there. Currently MIG seems to be the rage with the extreme fading, chipping, rusr etc. Some have said that real vehicles wouldn't be that weathered or rusty. What do you think?
I personally believe that this fad of extreme weathering is not true to the historical and technical facts of most of these vehicles. Does that mean I think it is wrong? Heavens no! I think that the effect is outstanding! Granted you don't want to put rust on rubber roadwheels or snow on a Desert Rats Crusader but the fading, chipping, staining, rust streaks, exhaust and you name it looks awesome. Though it may not hold up to the fact it does breath life into a miniature. If nothing else it brings to view a sense of 'realism' that make the model appear true to life. Best effects are subtle yet make yo want to continue looking at the model to see what has been added as detail or attention to weathering.
Well that's my two cents worth what do all you other guys and gals think?
